Originally known as Handicapable Vans, the company was founded by John Lee and Daryel Dunaway—two individuals who understood firsthand the challenges faced by people with limited mobility. For them, being wheelchair users wasn’t a limitation; it was the motivation to create better solutions and open doors to freedom that many take for granted.
Today, Legacy Vans is led by Ellen Lee, who shared 38 years of marriage with John and brings more than 25 years of experience as a rehabilitation nurse. Throughout her career, Ellen worked closely with individuals navigating life-changing circumstances, offering guidance, encouragement, and compassion. She often recalls the road trips she and John enjoyed together—made possible by the independence that a mobility conversion van provided.
